Jennifer Duran is the owner of Smith Duran Law her practice focuses on worker’s compensation cases and personal injury law. Her willingness to give back to the community has led her to volunteer her services on a pro-bono basis at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, as well as represent numerous people on Social Security Disability cases. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jennifer was a paralegal for several years; this experience informed her desire to represent people not companies and to obtain measurable results for them.
She attended law school with the express goal of becoming an advocate for injured people. Understanding the physical and mental consequences of an injury is essential to establishing a great relationship with your attorney. Jennifer understands the journey towards healing may be filled with obstacles and limitations therefore she advocates for her clients’ rights tenaciously. She prevents insurance companies from minimizing her clients’ injuries or cutting off their benefits.
At age 15 Jennifer developed scoliosis –a spine deformity that grew more severe with time. At this young age she had to continuously meet with orthopedic doctors and physical therapist. As a consequence, she had to wear a back brace and participate in a physical therapy regimen. Her path to health involved many insurance roadblocks and limitations to access qualified doctors. This personal experience provides her with empathy and compassion to obtain justice on behalf of her clients.
Jennifer attended St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio Texas. While in law school she volunteered more than 100 hours to pro-bono causes and participated in the law school’s clinic program. Jennifer is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Pierce County Bar Association, Thurston County Bar Association, and Washington State Association for Justice.
